7 Days Gorilla

Day 1; Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala and transferred to Queen Elizabeth National park in western Uganda. On your way you will make a stopover at the equator for the equator experience and photography if you please. Proceed to Mbarara town for lunch and continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge (budget and Mid-range) or Mweya Safari Lodge (luxury)

Day 2; Game Drive & Launch Cruise – Queen Elizabeth

Go for an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park where you will spot a lot of wildlife including African elephants, buffalos, antelopes, impala, among others and a lot of birds. Return to the lodge for breakfast, relax a bit and enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon, go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel inside Queen Elizabeth Park where you will come up close with hippos, crocodiles among other aquatic life and an array of birds on the bay! Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 3; Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha

Enjoy your breakfast and head southwest of Queen Elizabeth national park in search of tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector where on a lucky day, you will be able to spot many of them lounging on trees and enjoying the sun! Continue and proceed to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park arriving in the evening. Check in to your hotel, unwind, and enjoy dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma community rest camp (budget and mid-range) or Haven Lodge (luxury)

Day 4; Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Have an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing by the ranger guides before embarking on your gorilla trek. Head into the forest and trek until you find the gorillas. Gorilla trekking can take 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After finding the gorillas in Bwindi, you will be allowed only 1 hour and then return. Your driver / guide will drive you back to your hotel to relax and spend another night.

Day 5; Transfer Kibale forest national park

Enjoy breakfast and transfer to Kibale forest national park with a stopover in Fort Portal town for lunch and a visit to the crater lakes in Fort Portal and Amabereganyinamwiru ( a unique stalagmites site with amazing caves and a waterfall). Proceed to Kibale forest arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at CVK (budget), Chimpanzee forest guest house (mid-range) or Kyaninga lodge (luxury).

Day 6;Chimpanzee tracking and Nature Walk

Spend the morning tracking the exuberant chimp families in the Kibale forest. Tracking chimpanzees in their natural habitat, as they swing from the branches in the canopy high above the forest floor, is a thrilling experience. Though they can be difficult to spot, you will be in no doubt of their presence as the forest is alive with their noisy calls. In the afternoon, explore the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. The reserve is abundant with butterflies, plants, animals and, in particular, birds. Spectacular birds like Great Blue Turaco and rare Papyrus Gonolek will be of great interest to birders. The swamp is also home to more elusive animals such as Red Colobus monkeys and Sitatunga antelope. There is also the opportunity to visit local community projects that have been financed by tourism. In the evening enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the terrace with its stunning views. Diner and overnight as above.

Day 7: Kampala and departure

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route arriving Kampala in the evening. Drop off to your hotel in Kampala or the Airport for departure.
