7 Days Rwanda Classic Adventure
The 7 days Rwanda Classic Adventure is an exceptional safari that will take you to Akagera National Park a savannah national park located in the eastern part of Rwanda. Akagera National Park is a home of different wildlife species including elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards, rhinos, hyenas, impalas, oribi, giraffes, zebras, elands, waterbucks, bushbucks, duikers, hippos, crocodiles among others which will be seen during the game drives and boat cruise. The 7 days Rwanda classic Adventure, will also take you to Nyungwe Forest National Park and Volcanoes National Park where you will be able to spend time with the chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in their natural environment during chimpanzee and gorilla trekking experience.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera national park-afternoon game drive

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Akagera National Park
Depending on your location on the first day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will be picked up from your hotel or airport by a driver guide from Achieve Global Safaris who will brief you about the safari and then start the journey to Akagera National Park with stunning views of the rolling hills, landscape, homesteads among others. Upon arrival in Akagera National Park, you will connect to your lodge for lunch after you will go for an afternoon game drive in the park where you will be able to view animals like buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, zebras, impalas, and waterbucks among others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise
After an early breakfast on the second day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge to go for a morning game drive where you will be able to spot different animals like elephants, waterbucks, giraffes, buffaloes, bushbucks, impalas, zebras, topi oribi among others grazing in the savannah plains, view predators like lions, leopards, hyenas among others looking for a morning hunt, spot different bird species among others. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will be able to view hippos in water, crocodiles basking along the water banks, elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes among others drinking water along the shores, aquatic bird species like kingfishers, cormorants, hornbills, fish eagles among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for an evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
On the third day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. On the way, you will have an en-route lunch and enjoy great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, and homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will check into the lodge for evening relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After an early breakfast on the fourth day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a chimpanzee trekking briefing. After the briefing, you will start trekking in the forest in search of the chimpanzees which takes about 2 to 5 hours drive. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, plant and tree species, and birds among others and once the chimpanzees are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, record videos among others.
After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and then return to the lodge for lunch where you will go for an adventurous canopy walk that starts from the Uwinka visitors center and is accessed from Igishigishi trail. The canopy walkway is 160 meters long and 70 meters high from the ground. During the canopy walk which takes about 2 hours, you will enjoy stunning aerial views of the forest, tree tops, different birds, and primates among others. After the canopy walk, you will meet up with your driver guide and drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On the fifth day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey to Volcanoes National Park. On the way, you will have an en-route lunch and enjoy great views of the rolling hills, beautiful scenery, landscape, and homesteads among others. Upon arrival, you will connect to the twin lakes of lake Burera and lake Ruhondo for a boat cruise or nature walk where you will have great views of the twin lakes, beautiful scenery, and farmlands among others. After the twin lakes tour, you will drive to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Ibyi’wacu cultural tour
After an early breakfast on the sixth day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will carry a packed lunch and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing. After the beefing, you will start trekking in the jungle in search of the gorillas which takes about 2 to 6 hours drive. During trekking, you will be able to view other primates, and bird species and once the gorillas are found, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat where you will be able to learn about their behaviors, watch them carry out their daily activities, take photos, record videos among others.
After the one hour with the mountain gorillas, you will trek back to the starting point where you will meet up with your driver guide and go for an interesting Ibyi’wacu cultural tour where you will be able to interact with the local people, learn about their culture, history, way of living, enjoy their traditional performance among others. After the cultural tour, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 7: Departure to Kigali
On the last day of the 7 days Rwanda classic adventure, you will have breakfast at leisure, check out of the lodge, and meet up with your driver guide to start the journey back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will go for a city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial center, the art centers, Kimironko market among others. After the city tour, you will have lunch and later your driver guide will drop you off at Kigali International Airport for your departure flight or drop off at any place of advice.
